[Female Version]

Day One ..dawned to find us drugged, pretzeled, and limping off our 9+-hour Delta flight. Staggered through Immigration and Customs, got euros and tram cards, found the bus to our stop and our hotel. Nice enough place, though we drew the World's Smallest Room at a very high price. Walked about to stay awake, then went to the Van Gogh for a couple of wondrous hours. Two caffeine stops were needed, the first of which was accompanied by an order of cheesecake boasting more whipped cream than pie.

Tons of tourists in town even at this late-ish date; every hotel seems to be filled. All sorts of languages in the museum and on the streets. Weather is great: overcast but pleasant. We hope to be more alert tomorrow, so as to evade Death by Bicycle—they are literally everywhere, in every guise, mostly moving at high speeds. Odd that though the Dutch are the world's largest people they drive cartoonishly tiny cars...
